Not the country I was promised

This is a brilliant piece by Annie, who regrets how everyone - the media, publishers, art galleries, you and I - have, at different levels, lost belief in our freedom of speech.

In her words,
I am ashamed that we are so quick to bend into terrorised little kowtows, that we prefer to walk around with someone else's nauseous rags stuffed into our mouths. Really, this doesn't feel like the country I was promised. A democratic, sovereign, socialist republic that guaranteed free speech and free expression of ideas. I thought.

Thank god we have blogs then... free speech and expression home delivered via broadband. Let's make good use of it while it lasts!
Nevermind those L K Advani banner ads we see on most of the blogs these days.
